Paving Work Delayed On East Sherman

From Staff And Wire Reports

Soggy weather has delayed paving work on East Sherman until at least the end of next week.

Residents who use the partially blocked-off road also are being asked to cut down on travel there. Engineers said the more the road is driven, the longer it will take to lay final layers of crushed rock necessary for paving.

On a more positive note, sidewalks were completed up to Ninth Street this week, while cleanup work and grass hydroseeding continues on adjacent green stretches affected by the construction.

Only after crews get eight or 10 days of warm, dry weather will East Sherman be ready for its first layer of asphalt, from 18th to 13th streets.

City officials are targeting next Saturday as the earliest possible date that workers can get started. , DataTimes
