Service Group Needs Welfare Ambassadors
Current and former welfare recipients are invited to become ambassadors for welfare reform through a fledging advocacy group.
VOICES was recently formed by Eastern Washington University and social service providers to educate Spokane’s poor about public assistance and improve the city’s understanding of low-income issues.
On the group’s agenda is a public information campaign to restore the welfare safety net.
VOICES is meeting today at 7 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar St. For more information, call 532-6121. Child care will be provided. , DataTimes
