Girls basketball

The last two State B champions met Tuesday in St. John to inaugurate the 1997-98 season.

Ritzville, last year’s champ, rode the 26 points and 11 rebounds of Megan Yerxa to defeat host St. John-Endicott 59-39 in a non-leaguer.
