Sore Ribs Limit Young’s Practice

Steve Young received three shots to block the pain from his bruised ribs and practiced on a limited basis Wednesday.

It might be the only work he gets before the 49ers play at Green Bay in Saturday’s NFC divisional playoff. Backup Elvis Grbac again took the bulk of the practice snaps, while Young trotted into the locker room three times to receive pain-killing shots from team physician Dr. Bob Millard.

Young, officially listed as questionable, took a handful of snaps and threw a little on the side as the 49ers completed their last full practice before their rematch with Green Bay, the team that knocked San Francisco out of the playoffs last year.

“He wasn’t throwing 100 percent, that’s for sure,” coach George Seifert said.
