Dunk Gets L-C State Going Warriors Defeat Whit Women

The exclamation point came first.

Rosie Albert opened the game with a dunk for Lewis-Clark State and the Warriors went on to an 85-52 women’s basketball victory Monday night at Whitworth.

The Pirates (5-5) hung tough against the Warriors (14-1), leading 12-11 8 minutes into the game and trailing just 32-27 at halftime.

But in the second half, the Pirates made just 9 of 23 shots from the field while the Warriors were putting down 17 of 37 - including 8 of 13 3-pointers.

And that wasn’t L-C State’s most impressive stat. The Warriors made 20 of 21 free throws.

Albert led the Warriors with 24 points and Laura Goulding had 13.

Sherri Northington scored 13 for Whitworth, hitting 6 of 8 shots, and Rebecca Moore added 10.
