Schott In Trouble With Gm

Associated Press

Cincinnati Reds owner Marge Schott will meet with regulators next week to rebut allegations that she faked car sales at her Chevrolet-Geo dealership.

David Cook, spokesman for the Ohio Motor Vehicle Dealers Board, said Monday that hearing examiner Larry Jones will conduct a status conference on a complaint filed by General Motors Corp.

The board has the authority to force Schott to surrender her dealership. She also operates a Buick dealership in Cincinnati.

GM told Schott a year ago that her Chevrolet dealership was not meeting company sales standards. In June 1995, she reached a settlement with GM that she would surrender the dealership if it did not meet its quotas in two of the final three quarters of 1995 or the first two quarters of 1996.

GM has told the board that Schott falsified 57 sales last year.
