Distress Call Came 2 Days Before Girl Murdered

Scripps-Mcclatchy Western Servic

A 911 call made from the home of JonBenet Ramsey two nights before her murder most likely was placed just before or during her family’s annual - Christmas party.

The distress call on Dec. 23, a Monday night, came in to the Boulder police station at 6:48 p.m., records show.

But communication ended before the dispatcher could talk to the caller.

Police attempted to call the Ramsey home six minutes after the call, but got a voice-mail message, records show.

A police officer was sent five minutes later to the home to investigate, but left within a few minutes. The officer did not write a report.

The Ramseys had hired a Santa who passed out presents to the neighborhood children attending the large holiday party in their elaborately decorated home that evening.

The 6-year-old beauty queen was last seen when her parents put her to bed Christmas evening.

She was discovered missing the next morning after her mother, Patricia “Patsy” Ramsey, 40, said she found a three-page ransom note on the back stairs of the 15-room brick Tudor home.

It would be eight more hours before JonBenet’s father, John Ramsey, 53, and a family friend discovered her body in a seldom-used room in the basement.

The kindergartner was a victim of a sexual assault, her skull fractured and strangled by the white cord found around her neck.

Two 911 calls came from the Ramsey home that day, Dec. 26.
