Plan For U.S. 95 Will Be Discussed

From Staff And Wire Reports

Plans are once again in the works for U.S. Highway 95 improvements.

An informational meeting is scheduled for Monday that will feature new legislation calling for a gas tax to pay for improvements. Under the legislation, the tax would be put to a public vote.

The meeting will take place at 9:30 a.m. in the Gold Room on the fourth floor of the state capitol in Boise.

Speaking at the meeting will be Chuck Winder, chairman of the Idaho Transportation Board, and Dwight Bower, the director of the Idaho Transportation Department.

Winder said he’ll address financing issues and the importance of the route to the whole state.

Bower will discuss a department study that showed it will take up to $300 million to improve the road.
