Jonbenet Ramsey’s Half-Siblings Cleared

Associated Press

JonBenet Ramsey’s half-brother and half-sister were publicly ruled out Thursday as suspects in her slaying.

John Andrew Ramsey, 20, and Melinda Ramsey, 25, “are being publicly cleared of involvement to relieve them of stress caused by inappropriate speculation,” city spokesman Kelvin McNeill said at a news conference.

City officials refused, as they have all along, to discuss other suspects in the strangling of the 6-year-old.

Meanwhile, investigators obtained a third handwriting sample from JonBenet’s mother because the earlier samples were affected by medication she has been taking since her daughter’s body was found Dec. 26 in the basement of the family’s home.

Investigators want to compare her writing against a ransom note found in the home. The note demanded $118,000.
