Clinton Travel Plans Postponed By Injury

Holding his crutches, President Clinton announced Tuesday that his injured knee has forced him to rearrange his foreign travel schedule.

A trip to Mexico scheduled for April 11-12 will be postponed until May 6-7, the time originally set aside for a separate Latin America trip. Visits to Barbados and Costa Rica will go forward as planned for the same week.

But stops in Brazil, Argentina and Venezuela will be postponed until Oct. 12-17.

Clinton tore a tendon in his right knee March 14.

Argentina and Brazil are “big countries. There’s going to be a lot of moving around, and I need a little more physical mobility,” Clinton told reporters. “Besides, I’m hoping to ride horses and do some other things, and I’m not quite ready for that, as you can see.”
