It’s Tiptoe Time, But No Blooms Yet

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival began Friday, but growers warned the fields won’t really be in bloom until next weekend.

The festival runs through April 13.

Each year, thousands of visitors are drawn to the bulb farms around Mount Vernon to see the colorful flowers. But scheduling the actual tulip festival is an inexact science because the weather affects when the flowers bloom.
