Seahawks Climb To Third In Upcoming Nfl Draft Seattle, Atlanta Swap Six Choices In First Four Rounds

From Wire Reports

The Seattle Seahawks swapped picks with the Atlanta Falcons in the NFL draft Friday to move up on the list.

Seattle will get the Falcons’ first-round pick - the third selection overall.

“We will get an immediate-impact player with this pick,” said Seahawks vice president Randy Mueller.

Seattle also gets Atlanta’s third-round choice - the 63rd overall.

In return, Seattle gives up one of its first-round choices - the 11th overall - plus a second-round choice (41st overall), third-round choice (70th) and fourth-round choice (100th). Seattle picked up the extra first-round choice in the trade with Chicago for quarterback Rick Mirer.

“The basic … reason we did it,” Falcons coach Dan Reeves said, “we felt like we need a lot of players and there wasn’t one player who could make a big difference.

“I knew if we could pick up a few picks, the opportunity to get five picks within the first 100 picks was there,” he said.

Seattle now has the third and 12th selections in the April 19-20 draft.
