Faith In Workplace Subject Of Seminar

‘Calling, Career, and the Christian: A Four-Week Look at Faith in the Workplace,” is the title of a new class being offered by Whitworth Presbyterian Church, 312 W. Hawthorne Road.

The class will feature people who will speak about their experiences as a Christian in the workplace. Issues such as how Christians can best serve in the workplace and how Christians should think about their careers will be addressed.

The free class will be held for the next four Sundays at 10 a.m. in the Whitworth College Campus Center Lounge, located next to the church. No advance registration is required. For more information on the class, call the church at 466-0305.

The women of Whitworth Presbyterian will also host a Spring Dessert Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in the fellowship hall. All women are invited to attend, along with a relative or friend. Members of the church will be singing. Tickets are $3 and can be obtained by calling the church office.

Candlelight vigil Friday

The Spokane County Suicide Prevention Task Force is sponsoring a Suicide Prevention Candlelight Vigil on Friday. Those who want to participate are asked to gather at the Spokane Regional Health District building, 1101 W. College, at 6:45 p.m. for a walk ending at the Clock Tower at Riverfront Park.

Speakers at the event will include Mayor Jack Geraghty and people whose lives have been touched by suicide. The event will conclude at 8 p.m. For more information, call the task force at 324-1473.

Church presents musical drama

The musical drama “It’s Cool in the Furnace” will be presented by the Kid’s Choir, the youth department, and the adult choir of the First Church of the Open Bible on Sunday at 6 p.m. The drama is about three Hebrew children and how God met their need in a fiery trial. The presentation is free and all are invited to attend. For more information, call the church at 467-5122.

More activities for churchgoers

St. Peter Lutheran Church, 4620 N. Regal, will host an Ascension Day barbecue today at 6:30 p.m. A 7:30 p.m. worship service will follow the meal. The meal is free and all are welcome.

Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Alberta, will host a rummage sale from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. All proceeds will fund a senior high youth group trip to Mexico in June.

Mead United Methodist Church, 2525 E. Farwell Road, will present a Good Ole Gospel Opry concert and sing-along Saturday at 10 p.m. The concert is free and refreshments will be served. Gospel Opry members will also preach at the 8:30 and 11 a.m. worship services on Sunday.
