Flashlight Beam Leads To Suspects

Someone tried to gain access to the Rothrock Building on South Howard by forcing open a door, but Spokane police apprehended two suspects after the glow of a flashlight beam led them to investigate.

The attempted break-in occurred early Saturday morning.

Officers also discovered that a door at the Washington Water Power steam plant on West Railroad Avenue had been forced open.

The two suspects, who were carrying a flashlight, told police they were just looking for a place to sleep while they waited for a westbound bus.

Jason Daniel Ray, 21, North Bend, Wash., and Michael Roy Evans, 20, Seattle, were booked into jail on charges of second-degree burglary in connection with the steam plant break-in and attempted second-degree burglary in connection with the kicking in of the door at the Rothrock Building.
