Two Arrested In Valley Marijuana Raid

Sheriff’s detectives arrested two people on drug charges early Friday during a raid on the Spokane Valley house they shared.

Those arrests followed recent unrelated drug busts at separate Valley houses that produced nearly 200 marijuana plants.

During Friday’s raid, 17 eight-inch marijuana plants were taken as evidence from a house at 11322 E. 37th, said David Reagan, Sheriff’s Department spokesman.

Jesse Ray Adams, 30, and Amy C. Jones, 24, were arrested on charges of manufacturing a controlled substance. Jones also was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant, Reagan said.

Detectives found the plants when they served a search warrant on the house at about 6 a.m., Reagan said.

On April 17, the Spokane Regional Drug Task Force and federal Drug Enforcement Agency raided homes at 4022 N. Willow and 406 S. Adams.

Authorities in that raid seized 153 plants and about 30 pounds of harvested marijuana from the house on North Willow and arrested Lloyd C. VanZandt, 40, Reagan said. That arrest led to the seizure of 43 more marijuana plants at the home on South Adams, and the arrest of VanZandt’s 26-year-old son, Scott.

Both father and son were arrested for manufacturing a controlled substance. Marty J. Christian, 20, who gave his address as 406 S. Adams, and Gary D. Sams of Alaska also were arrested.

All four suspects were at the home on North Willow at the time of the raid, Reagan said.

Adams’ drug arrest was his second in four months. He was arrested in January on a charge of possession of marijuana with intent to deliver.

Deputies watched a trailer near Medical Lake for a week before arresting Adams and two other people on Jan. 30. Authorities seized 70 marijuana plants and hydroponic growing equipment from a shed attached to a double-wide mobile home.

A 2-year-old girl at the trailer during the January raid was placed into the custody of her mother, who was not involved with the operation, deputies said.
