Fbi Unable To Find Mcveigh Fingerprints

Compiled From Wire Services

Timothy McVeigh’s fingerprints couldn’t be found on several pieces of evidence that could tie him to the Oklahoma City bombing, including the key and rental agreement for the Ryder truck allegedly used in the blast, a prosecution expert testified Thursday.

In a rare bright moment for the defense, FBI fingerprint technician Louis Hupp also said there were no McVeigh fingerprints at the rental agency where a witness says McVeigh picked up the truck two days before the bombing.

The FBI went as far as to tear out the counter at Elliott’s Body Shop in Junction City, Kan., and take it to the FBI lab for analysis, but it still found no McVeigh prints, Hupp said.

Under redirect testimony by the prosecution, however, Hupp insisted that a person could touch something and still not leave prints.

“It’s very common,” he said.
