State Water Board Oks Boise Expansion

From Staff And Wire Reports

The state Water Resources Board has approved a $20 million tax-exempt bond issue to underwrite expansion and improvement of the water company serving most of the Boise area.

United Water Idaho intends to use the cash to double the capacity of its treatment plant to 16 million gallons daily, drill new wells and improve existing ones and acquire additional water rights and develop the facilities for using Boise River water in its operations.

The bonds, which will be paid off by the company, are the second issued by the board for United Water Idaho. Another $20 million were authorized three years ago.
