Man Hurt In Rescue Try In Serious Condition

A Dundee, Ore., man injured while trying to save a boy from a cliff above Cannon Beach was upgraded from critical to serious condition Tuesday.

John Gray, 41, is being treated at Legacy Emanuel Hospital in Portland.

His son, Adam, 15, remains in serious condition.

Each fell at least 50 feet Saturday while trying to climb to Chad Riggle, 15, of Kennewick, Wash., who was stuck on a ledge 175 feet off the ground.

Chad’s brother, Rusty Riggle, 16, fell to his death from another section of the rock face.

Rescuers removed the stranded boy safely.
