Packet Engines, Sei Forge An Alliance

From Staff And Wire Reports

Packet Engines Inc. has formed a strategic alliance with Japanese technology giant Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (SEI).

The companies have agreed to work together in a broad spectrum of activities, after year-long negotiations. The activities include an agreement announced Thursday whereby SEI gains licensing rights to intellectual property produced by Packet Engines.

The Spokane-based Packet Engines is a high-tech start-up company that produces intellectual property and manufactures products designed to allow computer networks to exchange information at extremely high rates of speed. These are referred to as gigabit ethernet products.

Company officials said by building its own gigabit ethernet products using Packet Engines’ proven concepts, Sumitomo can reduce time-to-market, costs and risks associated with the development of new products.
