Burglar Drops In On Cda Man

From Staff And Wire Reports

A 36-year-old man who was watching television in a front room early Sunday received a start when a burglar who had been walking in his attic fell through the living room ceiling.

The burglar dashed out the front door when the man went to the living room to investigate the commotion, according to a police report. The man did not pursue the burglar, but saw him run north toward a church across Reid Avenue from his home.

Police believe the burglar slipped off boards placed on a series of rafters in the attic, ripping a 2-by-3-foot hole in the ceiling. He landed on the floor in a heap of plaster and insulation about 2 a.m.

It was unclear how or when the burglar got into the house. Anthony Ehrmantrout told police he had locked the house before leaving with his wife and daughter for several hours.

Ehrmantrout told police he had to unlock the door when they returned about 11 p.m. Police found no signs of forced entry.

Nothing appeared to have been taken from the house, according to the police report.

The burglar was described as white, in his 20s, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet tall, and average build. He had short hair and was wearing a black jacket and jeans. , DataTimes
