Mother Aimed Gun At Daughter’s Molester

A mother accused of trying to kill a man who had molested her 8-year-old daughter pleaded guilty Monday to lesser charges and won’t go to jail.

Lorena Piontkowski of Phoenix was sentenced in Jackson County Circuit Court to 100 hours of community service and five years of probation.

Originally charged with attempted murder, Piontkowski had turned down a plea bargain but changed her mind and pleaded guilty to menacing and pointing a gun at a person.

District Attorney Mark Huddleston said he hopes the case sent the message that people can’t take the law into their own hands.

Police charged Piontkowski barged into a home in Talent, Ore., on March 18 where Elroy Allan Egger, 29, was staying with relatives and tried to shoot him with a 12-gauge shotgun while he was sleeping. But she couldn’t get the gun to fire.

Egger had been sentenced earlier that day to probation on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor in connection with his contact with Piontkowski’s daughter. More serious sexual offenses were dismissed in a plea bargain.
