Moscow Downs Cda In Soccer

Brenda Robinson scored two goals to lead host Moscow to a 3-1 soccer upset over Coeur d’Alene Thursday. It was the Bears’ (11-3-0, 9-3-0 North Idaho League) first-ever win over the Vikings (11-5-0, 9-2-0).

Robinson’s first goal was 30 minutes into the match. Her second came 7 minutes later.

At Bonners Ferry, Hayley Shortridge scored four goals and Megan Holmes added two goals and one assist as Lake City cruised to an 8-0 win over Bonners Ferry.

The Timberwolves improved to 6-5-3, 5-5-2 NIL. The Badgers slipped to 0-10-0 overall and in league matches.

Volleyball

Kara Swank had 11 kills and 14 digs and Andrea Thomas added 12 digs and 24 assists to lead Moscow past Kellogg 15-8, 16-14 in an Intermountain League match at Moscow. The Bears improved to 8-9, 4-3 and the Wildcats dropped to 3-10, 1-6.

St. Maries’ Bridgette O’Dwyer finished with seven kills and six blocks to pace the host team past Bonners Ferry 15-1, 15-13 in an IML match. Kendra Maas led the Badgers (10-11, 4-5) with six kills. The first-place Lumberjacks improved to 16-2, 8-0.

Lewiston’s Kim Wegner contributed with 15 kills and five blocks and teammate Amy Church finished with 12 digs and seven blocks to lift Lewiston past host Coeur d’Alene 10-15, 15-12, 15-9 in Inland Empire League play.

Lewiston (4-11, 2-4) was leading 11-3 in the third game but the Vikings (3-11, 0-6) battled back, 13-9.

In a non-conference match at Wallace (14-10), Lakeland (10-8) beat the Miners 15-3, 15-4, 13-15 behind Melissa Adams’ 11 kills.

In a non-league match at East Valley, the Knights defeated Post Falls 7-15, 15-13, 15-10, 15-13.

Clinic
