Syracuse Clobbers Winless Rutgers

Associated Press

Donovan McNabb ran for two touchdowns and passed for two and Syracuse held Rutgers to 80 yards of offense in posting a 50-3 victory over the winless Scarlet Knights on Thursday night.

Rutgers (0-6, 0-4 Big East) is off to its worst start since losing that many in 1902. It also extended its overall losing streak to nine games over the past two seasons, the second-longest at the school.

Rutgers’ longest losing streak is 14, set from 1900-02.

McNabb scored on runs of 2 and 3 yards and threw touchdown passes of 11 and 8 yards to Quinton Spotwood as Syracuse (4-3, 1-1) gained 615 yards in winning its third straight game.

The Orangemen tallied on six of their first eight possessions in beating Rutgers.
