Mead Keeps Gsl Scoreless Streak Alive

Mead was certainly Ready for Ferris on Friday.

Holly Ready scored the first goal and set up Jenny Frazier for the second as Mead (12-0, 5-0) notched a 3-0 win over visiting Ferris (11-6, 3-2) at Mead Junior High.

Natalie Kehl added one goal and one assist for the Panthers, who have outscored GSL rivals 20-0. Kehl has 11 goals this season.

Also in the league, University edged Central Valley 1-0 in a shootout; Lewis and Clark defeated Rogers 4-0; Gonzaga Prep defeated Mt. Spokane 3-1; and Shadle Park defeated North Central 4-1.

At U-Hi, the Titans (13-2, 5-0) won a shootout over the visiting Bears 4-1. Casey Lektorich, Leah Brereton, Kara Jordan and Heather Sale scored for U-Hi. Goalkeeper Natasha Opsal of CV (7-8, 3-2) also scored a shootout goal.

Mead travels to U-Hi Friday, but both teams also have league matches Wednesday. Mead has won 11 consecutive GSL titles.

At Hart Field, Katie Sheehan scored her first two league goals and added an assist as LC (9-5, 4-1) defeated the visiting Pirates (2-15, 0-5). LC’s Carly Sanchez scored a late goal from 25 yards.

Alecia Nelson’s first two league goals guided G-Prep (8-4, 2-3) over the visiting Wildcats (2-10, 2-3). Mt. Spokane’s Alina Gee made 12 saves.

Kristin Hawley scored twice, giving her eight goals for the season, to lead Shadle (5-10, 1-4) over the visiting Indians (1-9, 0-5). Lindsey Snider broke the shutout in the late stages with a goal from 35 yards out, NC’s first in league matches.
