Agreement Yields Another $3 Million
Gov. Phil Batt’s nuclear waste agreement with the Department of Energy has produced another $3 million, money that will be used to help diversify the economy of eastern Idaho.
Under Batt’s 1995 agreement with the government, the state is getting $30 million over five years. That has produced $9 million so far, and federal officials said they expected to award another $3 million before the end of the year.
“DOE continues to meet its commitments under the spent nuclear fuel settlement with the state of Idaho,” said John Wilcynski, manager of Energy’s Idaho Operations Office.
