Driver Punched, Kicked Her, Girl Says

Compiled From Wire Services

An argument between a motorist and two pedestrians came to blows last weekend when the car’s driver punched a 15-year-old girl in the head and kicked her in the leg.

She was not seriously injured. No arrests have been made.

The girl and her friend, also 15, told police they started across 15th Street in the crosswalk Saturday when the driver of a car stopped at the intersection began yelling profanities at them.

The girls told the man to leave them alone and continued walking west on Sherman Avenue. However, the car followed, stopped in front of them, and the driver got out.

He again began yelling at the girls before getting back in the car. Thinking one of the girls had made an obscene gesture, he then confronted her and punched and kicked her, the report said.

A man who witnessed the incident from across the street intervened and asked the man to leave.

The driver was described as in his late 30s or early 40s with brown hair. He appeared to have his family with him in the blue sedan, the report said.
