Sweet Spuds
You’ve probably heard of candied potatoes, but potato candy?
Only in Idaho. Potato Candy, produced by The Potato Factory in Sandpoint from an old family recipe, starts with a jelly-roll-like mixture of sweetened mashed potatoes and peanut butter filling. Then the rolls are sliced and dipped in chocolate.
Coming soon: a huckleberry filling - to cover the North Idaho bases, too.
Price: $7-$8 for 6 ounces in burlap bag (wooden crate extra).
Available: In North Idaho at Cougar Bay in The Coeur d’Alene Resort; Besano’s at Silver Mountain; Pend Oreille Cheese Co. in Sandpoint and The Mule in Spirit Lake, and by mail (888-395-9300).
