Ezra Pound’s House For Sale

Associated Press

A district judge says the house at Hailey where famed poet Ezra Pound was born is worth $255,000.

And that’s going to present a challenge to a new organization that hopes to buy it.

Last fall, the house’s owner, journalist Roberta McKercher, a lifetime Hailey resident, died and the Ezra Pound Association decided to buy it as a center for artists and writers.

McKercher’s will specified the house should be sold to the association for a “rightful price” if none of her four children were able to buy it.

The McKercher heirs have 60 days to raise the $255,000 to buy the Pound house. If not, the association has another 60 days to raise the cash.
