Seattle Mayor To Speak

Seattle Mayor Norm Rice will be keynote speaker Saturday at the annual Freedom Fund Banquet sponsored by the Spokane chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.

The theme is “What Will Be our Agenda for the New Millennium?” Rice will talk about respect, race, religion and regionalism.

The banquet will be at the Doubletree City Center hotel at 6 p.m. Tickets are $40 or $15 for a children’s menu.

Proceeds will help support several programs including the Carl Maxey Scholarship, a legal defense fund and diversity education.
