Summer’s Over And It’s Time For Sunday School

Nina Culver Correspondent

Churches all over the Valley are waking from their summer slumber. Sunday marks the day that many are holding rally days and open houses to kick off Sunday school and other fall programs.

The Veradale United Church of Christ, 611 N. Progress, will celebrate with a potluck after its 10:30 a.m. worship service on Sunday. Families are asked to bring two food items to the potluck, singles only need to bring one.

All children from age three through high school also are invited to check out the church’s new Sunday school curriculum.

Opportunity Christian Church, 708 N. Pines, will introduce its Sunday school program at 9:30 a.m. The Sunday worship service will return to its normal time of 11 a.m.

A potluck barbecue will follow the service. Families are asked to bring their own meat to grill, a salad or a dessert, and their own table service. Beverages will be provided.

Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 2511 S. Pines, will hold an open house Sunday from noon to 2 p.m. to introduce new pastor Michael Sager. Members of various church committees will also be on hand to explain their tasks.

Registration for Sunday school will take place during that time. The program will begin on Sept. 14 at 9:15 a.m. with a breakfast.

Also scheduled for Sept. 14 is Pastor Sager’s official installation at 3 p.m.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 810 S. Sullivan, will start its rally day festivities at 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes are available for those age three through adult. Dessert will be served.

Good Shepherd is also returning to its normal schedule as of Sunday. Worship services will now be at 8:30 and 11 a.m.
