Her Quinto Ticket Worth A Million

Compiled From Wire Services

Maxine Salinas didn’t know insomnia could be so lucrative.

Unable to get to sleep, the 51-year-old Ford, Wash., woman turned on the late-night television news Wednesday.

She wrote down the winning Quinto numbers, then gazed at her ticket. Calling the Washington Lottery’s 1-800 number, Salinas read the ticket back to officials.

Lottery officials said screams, cries and howls came from the mother of seven while she remained on the phone with them. Salinas had won $1.4 million.

Instead of heading to work at the Spokane Tribal Health Clinic on Thursday, Salinas, her husband Albert, daughter and grandchildren drove to lottery regional headquarters in Spokane.

Waiting for her, after taxes were taken out, was a check for $1,008,000.

She plans to use the money to build a house and contribute to her church, Salinas told lottery officials.

She bought the winning ticket at Springdale Grocery, 203 W. Shaffer, in Springdale. , DataTimes
