East Valley qualified 14 wrestlers to next week’s Region IV 3A tournament in Ellensburg for round two of its showdown with Moses Lake.

The Chiefs qualified 13 wrestlers as the two teams led the way during weekend sub-regional tourney competition. The Knights edged the Chiefs 299 to 297 for the team title.

EV individual champions include John Sommer, 101 pounds, Kevin Woolf, 122, Justin Walker, 129, and Brad Crockett, 141.

In addition, Chris Dassow of EV was second at 178 and the Knights had four third-place efforts.

Blake Falor, 275, of Cheney and Tyson Thivierge, 178, of Clarkston were other champions among 24 Frontier League regional qualifiers.

Moses Lake had eight finalists, two of them champions.

Great Northern League

Colville advanced 11 wrestlers and Lakeside 10 from the sub-district meet at Deer Park.

The top four from each weight class join the top four seeds at the District 7-2A tournament at Medical Lake next weekend.

Pullman sends eight wrestlers, Deer Park seven, Riverside six, Medical Lake and Chewelah five each and Newport four.

District 7-A/B

Reardan grabbed three individual titles to roll to the team title in the District 7-A/B wrestling tournament at Ritzville.

The Indians scored 193 points to outdistance Northeast A rival Freeman, which had 138 points. Almira/Coulee-Hartline was the top B team, scoring 122 points to finish third.

The top six individuals advance to the regional tournament next weekend in Chelan. The Caribou Trail League provides the main competition at regional.

Reardan champions were Sam Mitchell at 108 pounds, J.T. Merriot at 168 and Dan Eller at 275.

The Indians advanced 13 wrestlers, Freeman 10 and Wilbur-Creston eight. ACH, Liberty, Colfax, Ritzville, Davenport and Kettle Falls each have seven left.

Colfax, Ritzville and Republic each had two champions, Freeman, ACH, Liberty, Wilbur-Creston and Springdale one each.
