Washington Trust Income Climbs
Washington Trust Bank net income climbed 4 percent in 1997 compared with 1996, the Spokane-based institution reported this week.
Earnings increased to $17.7 million from $16.9 million, producing a return on assets of 1.29 percent. Return on equity was 14.47 percent.
Assets grew 7 percent to $1.4 billion.
With the merger of affiliate Northern State Bank in 1997, and the addition of another branch in North Idaho, the privately held bank’s system expanded to 31 branches.
