Bones Could Id Missing Teens

Associated Press

Searchers in a four-acre field near this Seattle suburb have found jaw fragments and teeth that could lead to the identification of two sets of human remains, investigators say.

Fragments and teeth were found from both bodies, and could be the breakthrough police have been looking for, police Capt. Bob Woolverton said Friday.

The identification process could be complete by next week, Woolverton said. Searchers will remain at the site for several more days in an attempt to piece together more bone fragments.

Searchers also have found a skull, a ribcage and dozens of other bones.

Jerry Webster, chief investigator for the King County Medical Examiner’s office, confirmed Thursday that the number of bones found indicates two people were buried.

Early findings indicate the remains are of two teenagers who had been dead less than three years.

About 70 searchers have recovered three dozen bones in the field since Monday, when a transient living in an abandoned barn led police to a few that he had found.
