Moscow Schools Leader To Retire

Associated Press

After five years of late-night meetings, union negotiations and budget workshops, Moscow School District Superintendent Jack Hill is calling it quits.

Hill, 55, will retire in June and plans to pursue a consulting career. He and his wife, Janice, moved to Moscow five years ago after a 28-year career in education in California.

“I fell in love with the community and schools,” he said.

As secretary of a group of schools suing the state over facility funding, Hill has pushed for increased money or changes in the law to allow districts more freedom in facilities planning.

“The suit has been frustrating because we all have legitimate needs and nothing has been done,” he said.
