Stewart Wins Indy 200

Avoiding the perils that caused nine crashes and 10 caution flags in the Indy 200 in Lake Buena Vista, Fla., Tony Stewart opened the 1998 season with his second career victory.

With team manager Larry Curry making a crucial pit stop call 34 laps from the end, Stewart, the defending Indy Racing League champion, won the 200-lap race on Walt Disney World Speedway’s one-mile tri-oval.
