Three Guests To Join String Quartet

Travis Rivers

The Spokane String Quartet plays host to three guest artists Tuesday at The Met.

Violinist Andor Toth, pianist Stephanie Leon Shames and string bassist Scott Dixon will join the quartet for Ernest Chausson’s Concerto for Violin, Piano and String Quartet.

Toth’s long career had included performances with the Original Ballet Russe Orchestra and NBC Symphony and membership in such chamber ensembles as the New Hungarian Quartet and the Alma Trio. Shames is a Detroitborn pianist who has played frequently on European radio and television and with orchestras such as the Detroit and Seattle symphonies and the New Orleans Philharmonic.

Dixon is a member of the Spokane Symphony and a freshman scholarship music student at Eastern Washington University.

The concert, which is part of the The Spokane String Quartet series sponsored by the Spokane Chamber Music Association, begins at 7:30 p.m. at The Met. Tickets are $15, $12 for seniors, $8 for students, available at The Met, Hoffman Music, Street Music and G&B outlets.
