Colorado State Associate Will Be Idaho’s New A.D.

The University of Idaho apparently has found its new athletic director.

Colorado State associate A.D. Mike Bohn was offered the job on Thursday, sources close to the situation said. Bohn is expected to visit UI president Bob Hoover in Moscow on Sunday to iron out contract details. A news conference could announce Bohn’s appointment early next week.

Bohn is enthusiastic about the opportunity and plans to spend next week in Moscow to begin the process of relocating his family, the source said.

Bohn, 37, has been in charge of external operations at CSU for three years. Previously, he was the director of marketing at the College Football Association for three years and an assistant A.D. at Air Force for eight years.

Bohn would replace Oval Jaynes, who left Idaho after about 16 months to take a similar position at Tennessee Chattanooga.

Hoover was out of town on Thursday and unavailable for comment.

Bohn was one of four finalists. The others were former Cincinnati assistant A.D. Jim Schaus, Utah assistant A.D. Peter Hart and Drake A.D. Lynn King.

Bohn was the last of the four to interview. He attended the Idaho men’s basketball game at the Big West tournament last Friday in Reno. The following day, Bohn flew to California to interview with Hoover, who had left the tournament because of a relative’s illness.

Bohn is a 1984 graduate of Ohio University. He and his wife have a 14-year-old daughter and an 11-year-old son.
