Stanford Leads Swimming
Stanford swimmers broke records in the 100-yard backstroke, 200 medley relay and 100 butterfly to keep their team in the lead at the Division I women’s swimming and diving championships.
The Cardinal were in first place with 292 points, followed by Georgia with 259, Arizona with 222, Southern Methodist with 203 and defending champion Southern California with 200.
Washington State’s Erin Eldridge finished 23rd in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1 minute, 3.82 seconds. Eldridge is the first Cougar in the history of the school to qualify for the meet. She will swim the 200 breaststroke today.
