Arson Suspected In Park Forest Fire

Compiled From Wire Services

A wind-driven fire had burned through 800 acres of the Moshannon State Forest in central Pennsylvania on Sunday.

No buildings or residents were threatened by the fire in a remote and unpopulated area. Investigators suspected arson, said Arlene Swales, a dispatcher for the Bureau of Forestry.

Two other fires in the forest had burned a total of 580 acres of woods before they were extinguished.

The forest covers about 184,000 acres surrounding Black Moshannon State Park in Centre County.

One firefighter was treated for lacerations on his arm, Swales said.
