Senators bet dinner on Liberty Bowl

Associated Press

BOISE – Republican U.S. Senators from Idaho and Kentucky are betting a dinner on the outcome of the Dec. 31 Liberty Bowl, which features No. 7 Louisville against No. 11 Boise State.

Sen. Mitch McConnell, R-Ken., has wagered a Kentucky Fried Chicken dinner if the Broncos win.

Idaho Republican U.S. Sens. Larry Craig and Mike Crapo have countered a trout dinner for McConnell if his Cardinals win.

“I have every confidence that the Cardinals will win the Liberty Bowl,” said McConnell, who went to Louisville.

That confidence isn’t shared by the Idaho congressional delegation.

“Coach Dan Hawkins and his superb staff have put together a bunch of tough Broncos who know how to win,” Crapo said.
