Unity offers workshop on adult-child relationship

Parents, grandparents and anyone who works with kids are invited to Love and Logic Super Saturday, a five-hour workshop designed to improve the relationship between adults and children.

The workshop, presented by the Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Lunch and child care will be provided.

The program will feature video presentations, handouts and discussion, and there is a program workbook available for a $10 offering.

Church grand opening

The New Heights Open Bible Church, 4017 E. 21st Ave., is celebrating its grand opening and dedication of its renovated building this weekend with a harvest festival.

The festivities kick off on Friday from 5 until 10 p.m. with a Harvest Party and X-Box Tournament.

There will be an X-Box giveaway, food and music, and costumes are welcome.

Saturday will bring a children’s party from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The day, which is geared toward children from pre-kindergarten through the sixth grade, will include lunch, a puppet show, candy and carnival games.

On Sunday, the church is having a grand opening dedication service at 10:30 a.m.

Halloween parties

• The women of Central United Methodist Church, 518 W. Third Ave., are hosting a holiday bazaar Nov. 6 from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.

The sale will include needlework, cookbooks, gift baskets and baked goods. Lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. for $5 for adults and $2.50 for children under 12.

There will also be a quilt drawing with tickets on sale for $1 or six for $5.

• Liberty Park United Methodist Church, 1526 E. 11th Ave., is having a Hallowed Rest Stop on Sunday from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m.

The party is for kids and their parents who are out trick or treating on Halloween and would like a warm place to stop for chili, hot dogs, hot cocoa and tea.

Introduction to Buddhism

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., is hosting a lecture on Jodo Shinshu Buddhism on Sunday at 10 a.m.

The lecture will cover the history, concepts and traditions of Jodo Shinshu, a Japanese school of Buddhism.

Election Day bake sale

• St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 5720 S. Perry St., is hosting a 12-hour bake sale on Tuesday in celebration of Election Day from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

The proceeds will go toward the Spokane Neighborhood Action Program-East, which provides food and heating help to those in need.
