Bond needed for aged Deer Park High

The Spokesman-Review

Our family has lived in the Deer Park School District for the past 28 years. During those years, we’ve supported our four children as they have moved through the ranks in the Deer Park Schools. There have been numerous positive changes occurring in the district recently, including the remodeling of Arcadia and the middle school, the construction of the new elementary school and the relocation of the district offices to the former elementary school building. However, there is more that needs to happen.

Increasing enrollment, outdated equipment, and inadequate classroom and storage space are just a few of the reasons why the high school is overdue for a major facelift. We haven’t had any children in the high school for nearly eight years, and things were not that great even then. I hesitate to guess just how outdated things are now. The students at Deer Park High School deserve better facilities than they now have. In fact, many of the updates have grown beyond the “want” stage and have progressed to the “need” stage.

We no longer have children attending Deer Park Schools but we care about the quality of our schools. So, we are encouraging our friends and neighbors to join with us in supporting the Deer Park School District Bond Issue.
