Friends of the Moran Prairie Library – Volunteers are needed to collect and sort books, distribute posters and fliers for the annual book sale coming up in June. For information, call Mary at 443-6663.

Southside Senior Activity and Community Center – Volunteers are needed to tutor or mentor elementary school children or to assist the program manager in planning and staging recreation programs and events. Contact Ron at 535-0803.

Spokane County United Way – Nominations are being taken for the 2005 Volunteer of the Year. The categories are adult, business/industry, family, group, senior, senior group, and youth/young adult. Forms are available online at www.unitedwayspokane.org and the deadline is Feb. 28. Contact Mary Mapes at 838-6581 or e-mail marym@unitedwayspokane.org for information.

St. Vincent de Paul of Spokane – Volunteers are needed to input data into QuickBooks and basic accounting checks/balances. Must be 18 years old and have knowledge of the software and accounting procedures. Volunteers also are needed to drive a van to pick up bread from local retailers for two hours in the mornings. The Salvation Army, Spokane – Volunteers are needed to serve low-income and single-parent populations. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Contact Judy at 325-6821.
