How convenient, woman wins ”Apprentice”

Book Smart Kendra tackles organizing the Best Buy Video Game World Championship for the final challenge in

It’s pretty amazing that the final competition on “The Apprentice” (Thursdays, NBC) came down to two women, Kendra and Tana. But I can’t say that I’m surprised. Both ladies have shown a considerable amount of strength during the season and have better track records than their former opponent, Craig.

However, I will admit some disbelief of the Book Smart (Kendra) versus Street Smart (Tana) final matchup. Did The Donald have something to do with that? It’s very convenient, don’t you agree?

This week the finalists planned and executed an event. Kendra did some handholding at the Best Buy Video Game World Championship, while Tana was blessed with the NYC2012 Athlete Challenge, New York’s attempt to impress the Olympic committee.

No new developments on “The Bachelor” (Mondays, ABC) this week, but we did get to enjoy a good catfight on Monday night’s “Ladies Tell All” episode. Kimberley from Canada was back to show off her ample assets in a bikini top, which was surprising considering the studio was neither hot nor on the beach. Sarah W. returned for a much-deserved verbal lashing for her “maybe if I wasn’t so beautiful” comments. And lastly, Charlie tried his best to be charming while keeping an eye out for flying daggers from the ladies.

Rumor has it that Charlie needs more time and would like to continue dating the women in the real world before making a decision. Don’t worry, you won’t have to wait too long – next week’s final episode will include his proposal.

You know what would liven up that rose ceremony? If they structured it like the game show “Distraction” on Comedy Central. On the show, contestants try to answer questions while being distracted by a series of grueling challenges that are supposed to throw them off course. If “The Bachelor” adopted these rules, Charlie could ask the ladies questions about their relationship, and they would have to answer while sticking their faces in moving fans, enduring acupuncture or playing leap frog with nudists. Now that would be a good twist.

You know what is even scarier and more dangerous than being in a studio with 20 angry single women? Fishing for King crab in the cold waters off Alaska. Alaskan crab fishers hold one of the world’s deadliest jobs, and they are the focus of a 10-part Discovery Channel series called “Deadliest Catch” (Tuesdays).

I felt the cold just watching this show and was amazed to learn that there is a 100 percent injury rate for fishers. For just a few days of work, the fishers can earn enough money to support their family for a year or more, which is why they take on this risky job.
