U-Hi debate team plans dinner, auction
University High School will send an unprecedented 11 students to a national debate tournament in Philadelphia in two weeks.
To help defray the cost of moving all of that brain power across the country, the debate club plans to hold a silent auction and dinner Thursday at the school.
“The kids are working really hard – they have to earn about $8,000,” said debate coach David Smith.
Dinner begins at 6 p.m. and costs $4 per person or $12 for a family of four.
