GU ‘America’s team’

The Spokesman-Review

To a great Gonzaga team:

You have great team chemistry that pleased a lot of fans across America. You have made a lot of close friends over the years. This is something you can cherish. It cannot be taken away from you.

A team must have a lot of good breaks to get to the Final Four. As a former player on the 1966 Texas Western team, we beat Cincinnati in overtime, and Kansas in double overtime, with Jo Jo White making a 35-footer at the buzzer that would have won the game for Kansas.

However, his back heel stepped out of bounds prior to the shot, so we were very lucky, and had lots of breaks. My hat’s off to you for a great season. Best wishes, and God bless.
