Derek Gianukakis scored a game-high 40 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Republic past visiting Tonasket 84-74 Friday in a non-league game.

The Tigers’ Todd Orestad connected on 6 of 11 3-point attempts and added 18 points. Cody Groth also scored 18 points for Republic.

Jerad Moser had 25 points to lead Tonasket.

In other non-league action, Post Falls’ Spencer Pingel scored 13 points but it wasn’t enough as host Lakeside beat the Trojans 59-51 in Nine Mile Falls. The Eagles (1-0) outrebounded Post Falls (1-1) 48-28. … Micah Smith scored 23 points and Cody Smith added 21 as Priest River beat host Chewelah 62-52. Idaho non-league

Austin Heleker scored 16 points and Nate Clinton added 15 as Coeur d’Alene opened its season with a 75-50 non-league win over visiting Rigby. Heleker connected on 4 of 9 3-pointers for the Vikings, who shot 39 percent from the field. Nate Bligh scored 15 points and Andrew Prohaska added seven and a team-high seven rebounds for Coeur d’Alene.
