Derek Gianukakis scored a game-high 40 points and grabbed 17 rebounds to lead Republic past visiting Tonasket 84-74 Friday in a non-league game.

The Tigers’ Todd Orestad connected on 6 of 11 3-point attempts and added 18 points. Cody Groth also scored 18 points for Republic.

Jerad Moser had 25 points to lead Tonasket.

In other non-league action, Post Falls’ Spencer Pingel scored 13 points but it wasn’t enough as host Lakeside beat the Trojans 59-51 in Nine Mile Falls. The Eagles (1-0) outrebounded Post Falls (1-1) 48-28. … Micah Smith scored 23 points and Cody Smith added 21 as Priest River beat host Chewelah 62-52. Mike Naccarato led the Cougars with 15 points and six assists and Jason Dorrow added 13 points. … Andrew Dresback scored 23 points to lead Freeman to a 59-38 win over host Timberlake at Spirit Lake. The Scotties came out strongly, building a 34-11 halftime lead. Logan Cook led the Tigers with nine points and 10 rebounds. … Shane Miller scored 16 points to lead Moscow to a 57-48 win over host Clarkston. Shon Helbling scored 13 points and Anthony Williams added 12 for the Bears. Both Miller and Williams connected on four 3-pointers. Don Perconti scored 11 points and Dustin McConnell added nine to lead the Bantams. … B.J. Fletcher had a game-high 25 points and added nine rebounds to guide Kittitas to a 55-53 win over host St. George’s. Henry Butler led the Dragons with 10 points, five rebounds and five assists and Tim Mackin added 10 points and seven boards. Fletcher made a free-throw with 1.8 seconds left to put Kittitas up by two. St. George’s last-second shot was unsuccessful. … Coltan Berg scored a career-high 16 points to lead Wilbur-Creston past visiting Soap Lake 59-50 at Wilbur. Austin Mannick led Curlew with 16 points and 11 rebounds as the Cougars beat Cusick 55-40 in the first round of the Inchelium Tournament. Dillon Strandberg scored 12 points and Bernard Payne added 11 for Curlew. Brandon Scott led the Panthers with 12 points.

Idaho non-league

Austin Heleker scored 16 points and Nate Clinton added 15 as Coeur d’Alene opened its season with a 75-50 non-league win over visiting Rigby. Heleker connected on 4 of 9 3-pointers for the Vikings, who shot 39 percent from the field. Nate Bligh scored 15 points and Andrew Prohaska added seven and a team-high seven rebounds for Coeur d’Alene.
