Jordan Greco moved up a weight class and finished with a 12-0 major decision over Gonzaga Prep’s John Lampert (189 pounds) as visiting Mead topped the Bullpups 40-25 in Greater Spokane League action.

In other GSL matches, Noah Hatton pinned Jesse Halley (152) in the second round and host Mt. Spokane used three Tigers forfeits to its advantage in a 50-25 win over Lewis and Clark. LC’s Anthony Varnell (145) pinned junior Corbin Richardson at the 2:25 mark. … University rolled to a 49-18 win over visiting Ferris. Ferris’ Ian Bauman (145) scored a takedown with 10 seconds left to win 15-13 in overtime over U-Hi’s Mitchell O’Hair. … Jacob Rodriguez (130) turned a four-point deficit into a third-round pin over North Central’s Kelly Meade as East Valley topped NC 52-21 at EV. … Central Valley senior Jacob Newman pinned Bryan Clark (189) in 1:46 as the Bears thumped host Rogers 62-12 at Shaw Middle School.

Boys basketball

Senior Kyle Nelson scored 20 points and Andrew Cooper added 16 in Davenport’s (1-0, 1-0) 57-53 overtime win over host Odessa (1-2, 0-1) in Bi-County League action. Drake Costlow finished with 20 points for the Tigers.

•In non-league action at Pullman, three Moscow players finished with double-digit scoring and the Bengals (1-0) topped the Greyhounds 56-29. Pullman’s (0-1) JT Levenseller led all players with 13 points. … In other non-league games, Newport (1-2) made two free throws in the final seconds and hung on for a 55-52 win over Timberlake (2-3) at Spirit Lake. Casey Denton and Cody Jones scored 12 points apiece for the Grizzlies. … Sophomore Casey Cook had 19 points and Tekoa-Oakesdale (2-1) defeated visiting Potlatch 52-43 at Oakesdale.

Girls basketball

Janelle Janke scored nine points to lead a balanced scoring attack as Davenport (1-0) thumped Odessa 48-18 in a Bi-County League opener for both teams at Odessa. Jordan Frederick scored nine points to lead the Tigers (0-3).

•In non-league action, Alicia Smith finished with 16 points and Newport (2-1) beat host Timberlake (2-6) 32-15 at Spirit Lake. … Shelby Puckett finished with 12 points and Katie Robinson had nine points in Tekoa-Oakesdale’s (2-1) 43-33 victory over Potlatch in Oakesdale.

Gymnastics

Tonya Turner led the way for Mead, winning the all-around competition with a 35.925 points and placing first in the floor exercise, balance beam and vault as the Panthers finished with 165.25 to beat University, Rogers and Lewis and Clark in a Greater Spokane League meet at LC. Mead’s Ashley Dotson was second all-around with a 34.35, winning the balance beam. U-Hi took second as a team with 159.675. … In another GSL meet, North Central’s Alli Reed finished first all-around with a 32.4 and the Indians (138.775) beat visiting Lakeside (118.0). Christy Grorud of NC won with beam with a 9.0 and was second all-around.
