Longhorns get past Tigers in OT shocker

A.J. Abrams hit a 3-pointer with 1:03 left in overtime and Texas (6-2) beat No. 9 LSU (5-2) 76-75 on Sunday night in a thrilling rematch of last year’s NCAA regional final that also went to overtime.

D.J. Augustin had 25 points for the Longhorns, who won their third straight game against a Top Ten team.

Freshman Kevin Durant had 10 points and 11 rebounds for Texas, while James had 10 points and 13 rebounds.

Tasmin Mitchell had 23 points and 10 rebounds for the Tigers, while Glen Davis finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds after a sluggish first half.

Boston College 73, (23) Maryland 62: At Boston, Jared Dudley had 20 points to lead the Eagles (6-2, 1-0) to a victory over the Terrapins (9-2, 0-1).

James Gist had 17 points and 10 rebounds for the Terrapins.

Top 25 Women

(1) Maryland 77, Temple 66: At Philadelphia, Kristi Toliver scored six points during a decisive closing run to help the top-ranked Terrapins (12-0) hold off the pesky Owls (4-4).

Laura Harper led the Terps with 17 points.

(2) North Carolina 87, Western Carolina 58: At Chapel Hill, N.C., Ivory Latta scored 19 points to lead the Tar Heels (10-0) to victory with a rout of the Catamounts (5-5).

Kendra Eaton came off the bench for a career-high 15 points for Western Carolina.

(3) Oklahoma 87, Arkansas-Pine Bluff 42: At Norman, Okla., Courtney Paris had 24 points and 11 rebounds and the Sooners (8-0) routed the Golden Lions (0-7).

Delores Hughley led the Golden Lions with 15 points.

(4) Duke 80, (22) Texas 52: At Durham, N.C., Wanisha Smith scored 18 points in to lead the Blue Devils (9-0) to a victory over the Longhorns (7-2).

Lindsey Harding had 14 points and Abby Waner added 13 for Duke.

(9) LSU 75, (5) Ohio State 51: At Baton Rouge, La., Sylvia Fowles scored 18 points to carry the Lady Tigers (10-1) over the Buckeyes (7-1).

Jessica Davenport was the top scorer for the Buckeyes with 14 points.

(10) Purdue 81, Butler 38: At Indianapolis, Lindsay Wisdom-Hylton scored 24 points and Katie Gearlds added 20 to lead the Boilermakers (8-2) to a victory over the Bulldogs (2-7).

Ellen Hamilton had 12 for Butler.

(16) California 73, Kansas 65: At Lawrence, Kan., Ashley Walker had a season-high 26 points to help the Bears (8-1) defeat the Jayhawks (4-4).

Danielle McCray had 19 points for Kansas.

(21) George Washington 74, Liberty 66: At Washington, Kenan Cole scored 15 points, leading the Colonials (8-2) to a second-half rally to douse the Lady Flames (5-3).

Megan Frazee scored 28 points for Liberty.
